Today at Gafcon....

This afternoon the laity and clergy met together to discuss what they considered to be the greatest challenges facing the Anglican Communion, to help inform the development of the Conference Statement.

The first part of the session involved listening to the views of a panel made up of bishops, clergy and laity from all over the world, including, Archbishop Mbanda, the Primate of Rwanda. Before we had a chance to hear from him he had left the stage.

A few hours later we were told that Archbishop Mbanda had been called away to be with his family - because his son, Eddie, had unexpectedly passed away in his sleep in the United States. Edwin was 31 years old.

O merciful Father, you have taught us in your holy Word that you do not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men: Look with pity on the sorrows of your servants. Remember them, O Lord, in mercy; nourish their souls with patience; comfort them with a sense of your goodness; lift up your countenance upon them; and give them peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (ACNA Book of Common Prayer, 2019)

Out of respect for the family we will not be blogging further today but for now here is the Heart of Gafcon Panel Reflection about today's events.
